CHERYL LEE COOK (PETERSON) Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Cheryl passed away on Friday, April 28, 2000 with her loving family by her side. Cheryl was born in Winnipeg, Man. on February 3, 1958 and received her education in Keewatin and Kenora, later moving to Ear Falls, Brandon, Winnipeg and Ashern, Man. She is survived by her loving husband Steven Cook; her children, Joella (Chris) of Winnipeg, Jayme of Winnipeg, Alanna and Michael of Ashern; stepsons Jarred and Jesse Cook; her mother Shirley Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Mary Cook of Ashern. Cheryl is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her father Lloyd Peterson of Keewatin and grandmother Eileen Thomas of Ashern. Cheryl was employed at the C.I.B.C. in Ashern for eight years and was very active in the community. She served on several committees and generously gave her time doing volunteer work. She loved and cherished her animals and gave them all her tender loving care. Any strays were welcomed with open arms. Her home was one of her dreams come true and she cherished the time she spent there with Steve, the children, her many friends and their happy times. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Tuesday, May 2 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Ivor Grant officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris daCosta, Tim Cameron, Pat Budge, Ed MacQuarrie, Peter Williams, Jack Williams and Gerald Fitzgerald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashern Gospel Chapel in care of Marion Russell, Box 141, Ashern, Man., R0C 0E0 or the Lakeshore Hospital Guild in care of Runa Mangl, Box 591, Ashern, Man., R0C 0E0. The family would like to thank Dr. Lee Isaacs for the excellent care and support he gave to Cheryl and her family with his visits to her at home and during her stay at the hospital, to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital, and to our many friends who came and gave our family support and love during Cheryls illness.
