Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEIGH SIGURDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leigh Sigurdson on Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Health Sciences Centre. Leigh was predeceased by his parents Eileen and Ryan and is mourned by sisters Lori Sigurdson and Lynn Tinker; niece Ashley Tinker; brothers-in-law Howard Mandshein and Brian Tinker; many, many close friends; Movie Village, the Bangkok Thai Restaurant and all the Corydon area merchants. Leigh was born May 16, 1948 in Flin Flon, Manitoba and was educated in Winnipegearning a Bachelors degree in History and Psychology from the University of Winnipeg. Throughout his checkered career (and alongside stints as a waiter, flower store owner and night club partner) Leigh was a communicator, political tactician, mentor and advisor. He worked as Research Director of the Canadian Resource Library for the Department of the Secretary of State; Executive Director of Winnipegs Heritage District; Director of Public Relations at the Winnipeg Art Gallery; Director of Corporate Communications for Infomart, where he was responsible for marketing applications of the groundbreaking Canadian-developed Telidon videotox technology; Vice-President, Communications for D. Leigh was a movie buff and an avid and voracious readeroften recommending and sharing great books with friends and colleagues. His zest for life was reflected in his passion for making things grow, as is evidenced by the indoor jungle he created in his home. Friends remember Leigh for his loyalty, caring nature, penchant for embellishment, refusal to speak an unkind word, and blah, blah, blah. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." -Buddha A student of Buddha and of Taoism, Leigh would wish us to, in his own words, "Move Forward". Leighs life will be celebrated, Tuesday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leigh Sigurdson Memorial Fund providing tuition assistance to University of Winnipeg Political Science students, care of McKim Communications Limited, 3rd Floor, The McKim Courtyard, 100 Osborne Street South, Winnipeg MB, R3L 1Y5.
