Mom was born in Winnipeg on December 12, 1917 and raised in Garson, MB. She and Dad were married in British Columbia and then farmed in St. Owens, MB. In 1944 they moved to Selkirk. She enjoyed many sports and was an active participant in baseball, hockey and curling through the years. She also enjoyed a wide variety of music. Marjorie had been employed at Booth Fisheries, the RCA Store (later Robinson Little) and the Salvation Army Store. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Frank in 1980 and infant brother, and her parents, Lt. Col. C.F. Blanchard and Lotta Mills Blanchard. She is survived by three children, Helen (Wayne) Blackmore, Bruce (Rae) and Phyllis (Bill) Kutzak; six grandchildren, Ray, Ian, Jennifer, Jason, Stacey, Kyle and their spouses. Her greatest wish was to live to see great-grandchildren and she was blessed with four great-grandprincesses, Caitlin, Brianna, Jane and Kara. Also to cherish her memory are cousins, Murray (Edie) Blanchard and Brent (Phyll) Blanchard and sisters-in-law, Myrtle Bargery, Mildred Zielke, Sadie Kelbert-Price and Clara Avison. Very special thanks to very dear friends, Wilma Goodbrandson, Iris Hall and Jeannie Prince for their devoted care and friendship over the years. Also to the home care staff and the doctors and nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital for the comfort they provided to Mom. Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (today) at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Jody Miles officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
