OSCAR TADENA TOBIAS With hearts full of deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Mr. Oscar Tadena Tobias in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 56 years. Oscar (Kaka, Manong Oca to many) was with his wife Patria, sisters-in-law Jean Guiang, Cora Fernandez and brother-in-law Lou Fernandez in the USA on April 25 this Easter Season to comfort an ailing relative when he suddenly passed away. Oscar was born on January 2, 1944 in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He was pre-deceased by his parents Teofilo and Emiliana Tobias. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree from the Far Eastern University in Manila. He was a project accountant at Construction Development Corporation when he was in the Philippines. Winnipeg was his home since August 1974 where he worked in convalescence homes, at McLean Electric and lately at Adams Supply. Oscar and Pat were married on June 23, 1968. Together they raised three children: Raymond, Rachel and Ryan, all in active careers in Vancouver, British Columbia. A caring husband and devoted father, Oscar will be fondly missed not only by his wife, his children and their partners (Frank Audia, Liberty nee Reyes, Rochie nee Soriano), his four brothers and a sister in the Philippines and by his many relatives in the Philippines, USA and Canada, but also by many people who had entered his house at first as acquaintances later to become members of his extended family, by the many friends he worked with in community volunteer capacities like the Folklorama, the Philippine Association of Manitoba where he was a two-term treasurer, by the dance troupe where he and his wife were dancers and trainers, by Filipino politicians who shared in his boundless energy and enthusiasm towards human ideals, by his co-employees who heard his many jokes and his funny antics, and many others whose life he had joyfully enhanced as he enjoyed his sports like basketball, softball, biking, fishing, football and hockey. Oscar left lasting memories not only for his children but also to his nephews and nieces especially Tara and Eric Fernandez and Jocelyn Guiang.
