SETH DNISTRANSKY It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Seth Dnistransky, beloved husband, father and grandfather, at The Selkirk and District General Hospital on April 27, 2000. Seth will be sadly missed by Nuddy, his wife of 53 years; five children, Linda (Doug), Gary, Rod (Sue), Daryl, Brenda (Wyatt) granddaughter Jacqueline and step-grandchildren, Brenda, Greg, Andria and Tori, Jason (Dawn), Aaron; sisters Evelyn and Esther and brother Don. Seth was predeceased by his infant son Barry, his parents Anton and Fedora, brother Phillip, sisters Dina and Rhoda and nephew Everett. Dad was born in a small farm house two miles from Arelee, Saskatchewan on December 2, 1922. From a very young age he helped his parents with the family farm. Horses were the mainstay for early farming and Dad loved working with these animals. Dads own team of Silver and Beauty were the best dressed and fastest team for miles around. In February 1944 Dad signed up with the First Canadian Parachute Battalion. In March 1945, Dads Battalion was dropped across the Rhine in Germany. Dad was wounded on this mission and hospitalized in Maiden Head, England for two months. As a result of these wounds, Dads right leg had to be amputated. Dad returned home to Arelee, Sask. and on July 4, 1947 he married Nuddy Kolomietz. Dad and mom bought a small farm outside Arelee, where they lived and farmed until 1960. In October 1960, Dad and Mom moved their family to Selkirk, Man., where he worked at the Selkirk Mental Hospital until his retirement in 1978. In 1945 Dad joined the Royal Canadian Legion and was recently awarded his 55 year pin. He was a Founding Member, President, District and Zone Commander for the Sonningdale, Saskatchewan Branch. Dad also served as President and Zone Commander for Branch #42 in Selkirk, Man. For the past 55 years, Dad was also a member of the War amputations of Canada. In appreciation for all their help and support Dad had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Champs Program (Child Amputees) in care of War Amps of Canada, 2827 Riverside Dr., Ottawa, Ont. K1V 0C4. Dad was a very unique individual, always ready to share a story or joke with his many friends and comrades. No party would be complete without Dad singing his signature song "Sunday Morning Sidewalk". He will be sadly missed by all. Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will beheld on Wednesday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk Man. "To remember me with with smiles and laughter, for if you only remember me with sadness and tears, I choose not to be remembered at all." Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
