IDA BROWN (nee Butterworth) Ida, beloved wife of David G. Brown, passed away at the Donwood Personal Care Home at the age of 89, on April 30, 2000. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Betty and son-in-law Ab Hansford; grandchildren, Diane Bailey (Joe) of Winnipeg, Laura Pelletier (Tom) of Thunder Bay, ON and Barb Hansford (Paul Edmonds) of Winnipeg; as well as great-grandchildren, Kate, Sarah, Kelsey, Kaija and Sean; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Alice Butterworth; sister Phyllis; brothers, Norman, Sydney, Dick, Ernie and Arthur. Ida attended Lord Selkirk School and upon completing her education worked at Eatons for several years before becoming a full-time mother and housewife. Mom spent a lot of her time at charity work and so enjoyed her time with the "Mothers Club" at Gordon King Memorial. Mom expressed herself through her oil paintings and crafts which were a joy for all to see. Mom was dedicated to her husband and family and "Nana" especially loved her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Many enjoyable winters were spent in Mesa, AZ with Dave. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for being so caring and loving to Mom. Special thanks also to Glo and Stu Ross and John Graham for their special devotion to mom. A memorial celebration service will be held on Thursday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance, with the Rev. Walter Cowan officiating.
