BERNARD "DUSTY" RAOUL DESPINS Suddenly but peacefully after a short illness Dusty, aged 76, passed away May 1, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was predeceased by spouses, Phyllis (1978) and Evelyn (1986) parents, Raoul and Antoinette Despins; and brothers, Gerald and Clem Despins. He will be lovingly remembered by wife Edith; children, Fred, Robbie Harris, Geordie (Wendy), Les (Donna), Arlene (Kaz) Sawicz, Sue (Dan) Newell, Debbie (Dave) Payment, Maureen (Wayne) Mosionier, Ron (Viv) Sosinkalo and Patti (Roger Yanicki) 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace (Roland) Langevin and Theresa Duhan; brothers, George and Marcel (Mary Jane) sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Dorothy; brother-in-law Harry (Esme) Underhill, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dusty was born August 29, 1923 in Elie, MB. During the war he served in the R.C.A.F. Shortly thereafter he joined Winnipeg School Division No. 1 and retired as a head custodian after 36 years of service. From an early age he pursued a career as a musical entertainer. He will be remembered for his guitar playing and singing for all occasions, weddings, seniors homes, lounges, old Pattersons Barn, the Western Hour and family get togethers. In recent years he performed with the South Glen Orchestra and the South Glen Fiddlers. Dusty was a longtime member of Empire Lodge, A.F.&A.M., Patricia Chapter No. 8 O.E.S. and served as Worthy Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Manitoba. Memorial service will take place on Friday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Padre Stan Millar officiating. The family wishes to express their thanks to the City of Winnipeg First Responders, the Ambulance Service and the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency staff for all their assistance and care.
