Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELIZA (BRASS) BEAUCHAMP April 20, 1912 - May 2, 2000 Peacefully on May 2, 2000 at her home, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Mary Eliza (Brass) Beauchamp, age 88, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MB, left us to be with her Creator. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1986; her daughter Rachel in 1967; and 16 other children. They had a total of 18 girls and six boys. Leaving to mourn are four sons and four daughters; 28 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and brother Gordon Brass from Pine Creek First Nation. Mom will be sadly missed by Thomas and Ethel Beauchamp; Marion and Frank Aliberti of Toronto; Charles and Anna Beauchamp of Peguis; Verna Wells and Richard Thomas of Winnipeg; Annabelle and Russell Dezan of Winnipeg; David and Alfred Beauchamp; Ruby and Jeffrey Hilderman of Winnipeg. Leaving also are the grandchildren, Joseph Guiboche of Grand Rapids; Edward and Audrey Guiboche of Winnipeg; Charlston and Trudy Beauchamp of Peguis, Denise and Alvin Bear of Peguis; Charlene and Wayne Asham of Peguis; Rachelle Beauchamp of Peguis; Joyce Doucette; Louella; Debbie; Danielle Aliberti of Toronto, Paul Beauchamp of St. Boniface, Diane Beauchamp of Edmonton; Michael, Leah, Joshua Beauchamp of Winnipeg; Rachel and Russell Wells of Winnipeg; Michelle Beauchamp, Derek and Melissa Sanderson of Winnipeg, Darren Leask of Fairford; Janice Leash of Winnipeg, Caroline Leask of Sapotawak, Cheyenne and Tanya Beauchamp of Winnipeg; Charity and Nathan Beauchamp of Winnipeg; Shawn Beauchamp of Winnipeg and Kirby Cook of Winnipeg. Mary was born in Pelican Rapids, MB. She was married to George William Beauchamp on December 27, 1929. For many years they struggled to survive. Mother was faithful to the Lord for many years, faithfully serving at the Indian Alliance Church. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 4 from 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave., Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5 at 11:00 am. also at the chapel with Rev. Irvin Wilson of Peguis officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In serving as pallbearers are the following grandsons: Charlston Beauchamp, Russell Wells, Derek Sanderson, Nathan Beauchamp, Darren Leask and Michael Beauchamp. Honorary pallbearers are: Gordon Brass (brother), Ed Wood (friend), Tom Brass (nephew), Lawrence Brass (nephew), Jordan Guiboche (great-great-grandson), Daulton Beauchamp (great-grandson), and Joe Guiboche (grandson). I miss my granny very much she was a very special and talented person. She lived her last years with my granny/auntie Val before she moved to my other granny/auntie Ruby. When she lived with Val I would go and visit her as often as I could. When we would go into her building we would always be sure to wave at the camera because we knew she would always be watching. She had no interest in what was on TV but would rather watch real people on the security camera. Mary was a very special woman and was also my Cookum. We named our first daughter after her (Mary Jo Doucette in Toronto). Joyce and myself drove Cookum to the reserve so she could say good-bye to all her babies that were buried there. She was a Christian and shared her faith with me.
