CANDICE MAUREEN MACKENZIE (nee GELLER) Peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at the age of 51, Candy MacKenzie of Winnipeg lost her courageous battle with cancer. Remaining to forever cherish Candys memory are her loving husband Ken; his daughter Lisa and husband Shane Cluff; mother Rosemarie Geller; sister Gail Warywoda and husband Paul, sister Alana Dickinson and partner Jack Herny; three nephews, Jarret, Jason, Lee and niece Jamie. Candy experienced distinct chapters of lifes adventure, beginning with her childhood days growing up in the Brooklands area. Her first marriage to then husband Jim Murray led to travelling adventure and settling on a small farmstead in the Dugald area where she kept and enjoyed her animal menagerie. She then moved on to involvement and employment at Andersons Animal Hospital in St. Boniface where she was able to apply her love for animals. A chance meeting with now husband Ken some 15 years ago changed Candys lifes direction once again. She started working at the St. James School Division office and transferred to a secretarial position at Brooklands School where she remained until taking medical leave. She was much loved by her co-workers and kids at school. Candy will be remembered most for her special qualities as a loving, caring and affectionate person with simple wants and desires. TO KNOW HER WAS TO LOVE HER. Friends are invited to attend a short service and a Celebration of Candys life on Friday, May 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club, 90 Kenebeek at Minnehaha in West St. Paul (334-0530). Sincere thanks are extended to all of Candys special and closest friends for allowing her the opportunity to see and experience a Florida vacation while celebrating the new Millennium, celebrating her Australian theme birthday on April 10 and spending her last few days out at the Lake of the Woods where she loved to be, and last but not least, for standing vigilance at her bedside as she slipped away on Tuesday afternoon. Of particular importance was Candys desire to attend Lisa and Shanes wedding. This was only made possible thanks to a monumental effort to advance their original wedding date to April 22 to accommodate Candys state of illness. Being a part of their wedding was near and dear to Candys heart. Our family wishes to express our sincere gratitude for all the medical care and attention Candy received from her doctors, nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface and Grace Hospitals. Candy was particularly thankful for the personal support of Doctors Krepart and Lotocki and nurse Irene Chrunyk. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to do so may make a contribution in Candys memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 0V9. Candys family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of: WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665

  • I am fondly thinking of Tricia Geller who was employed with IBAM when I registered myself for Fundamentals of Insurance (FOI) way back in March 2000. - Posted by: Philip (Not related) on: Jan 14, 2022
