Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDELBERT JAMES NEPINAK Peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 51 years, Delbert James Nepinak passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at his home in Skownan, Manitoba. Delbert leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 30 years, Melva (nee Catcheway) his daughters, Adeline (Richard Nepinak), Pamela (Eugene Kakewash), Sylvia Nepinak (Cameron Catcheway), Muriel (Dale Huhtala) his only son Shannon (Natallie Nepinak) as well as ten grandchildren; his brother Stanley (Victoria Nepinak) his sister Mary (Wayne Mann) his aunts, Florence (Norbert Catcheway) and Lizzie (Dolphus Catcheway) his uncle Willie (Marjorie Nepinak) and numerous nieces and nephews. Delbert was predeceased by his mother Hilda (nee Campbell) on November 22, 1988 and by his father Gilbert on March 6, 1991. Delbert was born on June 21, 1948 in Winnipegosis, Man., he resided in Skownan all of his life. Delbert started working at a very young age to support his family. He worked at various organizations which included: Band Manager at Waterhen First Nation for 14 years, Store Manager at Waterhen for two years and as a Case Worker at West Region Child and Family Services for 14 years. He was very wise and educated, possessed many certificates from various educational institutes. Delbert attended school in Skownan, Ninette, and also Pine Creek Residential School. He was also an active committee member of various committees in the community. Always visible in all of the community functions, giving support and advice to everyone especially to his children and grandchildren. Delbert loved to watch his son Shannon who is a pitcher, play fastball. He also enjoyed taking his grandsons to hockey practices, leagues and tournaments, camping, travelling, visiting, hunting, listening to fiddle music, working on his yard, watching the news on TV, and feeding the birds. For over 15 years Delbert suffered from diabetes and heart disease. The last four years were his biggest fight, our family went from hospital to hospital to be by his bedside. We knew then that God was preparing us. Our family is so thankful that he didnt suffer during his last day with us. A wake service will be held on Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Waterhen Band Hall with Father Rey officiating.
