JOHN HAIDY On May 3, 2000 at Maples Personal Care Home John Haidy, of Winnipeg, died at the age of 90 years. He is survived by one son Larry; sister Mary Truss; brother Gord (Lorraine) of Windsor, Ont.; sister-in-law Mary McGregor of Winnipeg and nieces and nephews. John was born March 4, 1910 on his grandparents farm Insinger, Sask. He was raised and educated in Elmwood. John left home at the age of 16 to work on the Railroad, and worked 45 years with the Canadian National Railways. He was a life member of his Railway Union (B.M.W.E.). After he retired in 1970, John worked at the Henderson Highway Legion (#215) as waiter/bartender. John was an outdoors man and enjoyed gardening, especially his glads and tomatoes. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway, with Father Ron McCullough officiating. Viewing Monday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the chapel and prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Henderson Branch #215, 3600 DeVries, of which he was a member. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
