Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER JAMES SPELLMAN Peter James Spellman died of cancer at their winter home, Lake Wylie, South Carolina on April 11, 2000. Peter was born on April 18, 1923 in London, England where he received his early education. He is survived by his beloved wife Lois, his daughter Vivian Diane (Kenneth) Crowson, his granddaughter Elka Davis of Denton, N.C., also three sisters in England and his brother in New Zealand. He was predeceased by wife Irma and grandson Ian Davis. During the Second World War Peter trained as a fighter pilot in Canada and became a Squadron Leader, was awarded D.S.O. and D.F.C. and bar. Following his retirement from the R.A.F. he returned to Winnipeg. In 1951 he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree, then moved to U.S.A., ending his career as Vice-President and C.E.O. of Barclays of America (Insurance Branch) in Charlotte, N.C. Peter and Lois enjoyed travelling in U.S.A., Canada and England. They participated in various sports, enjoyed music and theatre and living part time in Winnipeg and part time in Lake Wylie. Cremation has taken place and Lois has returned to Winnipeg.
