DR. RICHARD MICHAEL NASH M.D., F.R.C.S. Dr. Richard Michael Nash M.D., F.R.C.S., son of Gerald and Margaret Nash (both deceased) of Tipperary, Ireland, peacefully passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, May 5, 2000. Dr. Nash will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and a man of integrity, by his devoted wife Mary and his children and grandchildren, his daughter Eileen and her son Joshua; his son Diarmuid (Judy) and their daughter Eileen; his son Richard (Joan) and their sons Richard and Brendan; his daughter Patricia (David) and their children Evan, Andrea, Stephen and Melissa; his daughter Aideen (Gary) and their children Sean, Brianne and Connor. He is survived by his brother Monsignor James Nash and his sister Eileen McIlhenny. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Gerard and Henry Nash and his sisters Jo McCarthy, Brigid McDonnell and Rita Nash. Dr. Nash graduated from University College in Dublin, Ireland and did his post-graduate surgical fellowship training in London, England. He came to Canada in 1952 and established his medical practice in Fort Garry, Winnipeg. He was an active member of the staff for both the Misericordia and Victoria General Hospitals where he will be fondly remembered. Dr. Nash retired from practice in 1992. The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk and the other physicians and nurses at the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation and to the volunteer drivers. Prayer service will be held at St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church, at the corner of Fleet and Lanark Streets in Winnipeg on Monday May 8 at 6:30 p.m. Father Thomas McGivern S.J. will celebrate the funeral mass the follow day, May 9 at St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Dr. Nashs memory to the Cancer Care Foundation of Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 9Z9.
