LIONEL GREEN Lionel Green passed away peacefully May 6, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital after a lengthy illness. Lionel suffered a stroke while battling cancer. Lionel was born in Kingston, Jamaica and received his early education there. He worked in a printing office while in Jamaica. Lionel came to Canada in 1947 at the age of 29. He attended St. Johns College and later United College (U of W) attaining his B.A. degree. During this time Lionel worked at various jobs to support himself and pay for his education. He attended the Manitoba Law School, graduating in 1959. Lionel was devoted to his profession and practiced Law for 30 years in Winnipeg, retiring in 1990. Lionel will be sadly missed by his wife Emily Elizabeth; his daughter Margaret (Andrew) his son Howard (Debbie) and his two grandchildren; Auston and Bronwyn. A Memorial Service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Ave. on Thursday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. with The Rev. John Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers friends may direct donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit 409 Tache Ave. Winnipeg MB R2H 9Z9 or to St. Johns College.
