Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED (WILF) JAMES DRYSDALE On Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, Wilf Drysdale, beloved husband of June Drysdale (nee Sylvester) of Carman. Besides his loving wife June, Wilf leaves to mourn one daughter Maureen (Glen) Carr of Carman,, MB; two sons, Gregg Drysdale of Thunder Bay, ON and Ken (Carolyn) Drysdale of Calgary, AB. He also leaves to cherish his memory two grandchildren, Kristen and Scott Carr; one brother Bernard (Doreen) Drysdale of Winnipeg, MB; one sister Shirley (Arnie) Thomson of Winnipeg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn (Ethel) Sylvester, Hazel Sylvester, Lyle (Dorothy) Sylvester and Quentin (Madeline) Sylvester, all of Carman. He was predeceased by his father Harold Drysdale in 1956; by his mother Fanny (Lenton) Drysdale in 1979; by one sister Hazel (Ed) Stanley, and by one brother-in-law Hav Sylvester. Wilf was born and raised in the Beausejour area and served in the R.A.F. in the Second World War as a navigator. He came to work for the Bank of Commerce in Carman in 1945 where he met June Sylvester and married her in April of 1947. During Wilfs 38 years with the bank he was transferred throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario until retiring from the bank in 1982. After retirement from the bank he managed the Heather Curling Club in Winnipeg for 1984 to 1986. Wilf also served as treasurer for the Mandak baseball league in Carman and the Kiwanis service club. Wilf was an avid sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed curling and golf. He was a founder of the North Shore Golf Course in Red Rock, ON where he received life memberships in both sports. Wilf had a great love of family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed numerous trips with June and his grandchildren. Wilf and June enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, AZ where they met many friends. His wit and sense of humour stayed with him until the end and will long be remembered by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held from Doyles Funeral Chapel in Carman, on Thursday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m with Rev. Pat Wotton officiating. A private family interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
