MILDRED IRENE GARNER (BALES)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED IRENE GARNER (nee BALES) On May 9, 2000 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, Mom passed away peacefully. She was the beloved mother of Burton Garner and Gail Delisle. Mom was born in Witchita, Kansas on December 4, 1902. Her family gradually worked their way north to Douglas, North Dakota and Fannystelle, Man., finally settling in Transcona. Mom worked at the Portage Home for the Retarded after which she started her own Transcona Beauty Shop. Her hobbies included taxidermy, leatherwork, ceramics, china painting, carpentry, sewing, oil painting and was a member of the Transcona Horticultural Society. Mom and Dad built and enjoyed many years at the cottage at Rice Lake, Ontario. This legacy and many stories and experiences have been passed onto the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Bertha and Henry Bales; beloved husband Charles Burton; brothers, Kenny, Harold, Hugh, Ralph; sister Helen Hadaller and her great-grandson Burton Reimer. Mom is survived by son Burton (Joan) Garner and daughter Gail (Ed) Delisle; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion Rogers, Evelyn Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may pay their respects Thursday evening (tonight) between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Cook on Friday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. also at the chapel. Service to terminate at the chapel with burial to follow on Tuesday, May 16 at 1:15 p.m. at the Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Glen Garner, Ted and Terry Kulchiski, Kim MacPherson, Barbara Garner and Tracey Garner, and honorary bearer, granddaughter Lynda (Guy) Kolly. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in Moms memory may be made to the Park Manor Personal Care Home. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
