Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIGURLINA (LENA) ALBERTSON (nee SVEINSON) December 23, 1911 - May 9, 2000 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our loving wife, mother, amma and lang-amma, Sirgurlina (Lena) Albertson on Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband and best friend of 68 years, Bjorgvin; her children, Florence, Albert, Sigurlin (Lloyd) Sigvaldason, Marvin, Doreen (Ingvar) Karvelson, and Arlene (Kenneth) Peterson; her grandchildren, Karen (John) Dziad, Brenda (Einar) Einarsson, Laurel (Blaine) Tessier, Doriane (Stuart) Graham, Kara (Peter) Peiluck, Kevin (Chrissy) Peterson, Kendra (Mark) Sewell, Kristi (Wes) Henry, and Kelly Peterson; her great-grandchildren, Shane, Morgan, and Keye Dziad, Erin Sigvaldason, Elaine and Austin Einarsson, Aira Tessier, Dawson Graham, Aurora and Stefan Peiluck, and Ashley Peterson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thorsteinn and Gudbjorg Sveinson; her sisters, Margaret, Freida, Rosa, Kristin, and Runa; her brother Valdi, and one child in infancy. Lena was born and raised at Svalbakka, one mile north of Camp Morton. On February 16, 1932 she married Bjorgvin Albertson and settled at Mel where they raised their family. She attended south Arnes school and worked at clerking before her marriage. Lena has belonged to and has been secretary for the Arnes Lutheran Ladies Aid for many years. She was also a member of the Arnes Ladies Auxiliary. Mom was best known for her hospitality and her bottomless pot of coffee. She had a contagious laugh, a love of life, and she found the silver lining in every cloud. She was well known and loved; she was everybodys Amma. Funeral services will be held at the Gimli Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment to follow in the Arnes Cemetery. A lunch will follow the service at the Arnes Community Hall. Pallbearers are Ingvar Karvelson, Kenny Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Lloyd Sigvaldason, Gordie Goodman, and Valdi Sveinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arnes Cemetery, or the charity of your choice. GODA NOTT Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
