She will be remembered by the Hamblin, Harrison, Klinck, Kalata, Lafreniere, Radcliffe, Mueller, Kehl, Dumaine, Loeppky and Wiebe families. Special friends, Soeur Antoinette Servant, Linda and Mac, Flo and Don, Gilles Dumaine, Harald, Joel, Michelle, Rod and Sandra, John-James, Lisa, Judy, Doris, Clara and Chris, Glenn and Laura, Danielle, Antoine, friends of Michelle, Pamela and John Jr. and Sr., neighbours, Jeff and Cameron and their families, and the many who were part of her life. Christine led a full life through the Second World War in Europe and leaving her family to settle down on a new continent. She came to Canada in the early 1950s with her husband Frank and children, John and Anne-Marie. She worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital, which later became the Health Sciences Centre. She also worked at Paroisse/EcoleSacre Coeur to help pay for the tuition fees for her children at that school. Homesickness caused a return to France, but a few years later, she returned with her family to make Winnipeg her permanent home. She first worked at Perths. She then worked at the Municipal Hospitals, which is now the Riverview Health Centre. There she became a ward clerk and eventually was in charge of the transport department which operated between the three original hospitals, the King George, the King Edward and the Princess Elizabeth hospitals. She served there many years, as well as being shop steward for C.U.P.E. Local 500, until her retirement. Christine loved her neighbourhood of Riverview and her house on Clare Avenue. She loved her cats, Sheba and Minky. She was very fond of her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to preparing the Sunday family dinners and the special suppers at Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, graduations and birthdays. We will all miss her suppers and her captivating personality. She always had homebaked bread, cake or pie on hand for unexpected company. She loved those visits. One was always greeted with a big smile and a warm hello. Grandma loved her knitting. In the family, we have many knitted crafts that we can remember her by. She loved the family cottage at Lee River and it will be different there without her. She loved her garden, and that is something her children and grandchildren will keep going in her memory. Grandma cared greatly for others and would help others before she thought about herself. She was indeed an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and regularly would visit them in France and England. Family from there would also come to visit in the summer or at Christmas. Grandma, we will miss you greatly, but youll always be in our hearts. Youve left an impression on us that will be carried on to your great-grandchildren whom you never had a chance to hold in your arms. Good night. Weve made you proud of us and were very proud of you. Sleep well in peace. Bonne nuit maman. On taime pour leternite. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. Visitation will be one half hour prior to service. A private family interment will take place in Waverley Memorial Gardens at a later date. To us, her grandchildren, she was our world. Life will not be the same without her. Anytime, for any reason, if one of the five of us needed her, she was always there with open arms and a smiling face. We will have funny Gramma stories to tell forever. She was everyones "Grandma Bacik". LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
