Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS COULTER (LAUDERDALE) Surrounded by her family, Doris passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her loving husband Art of nearly 60 years; her children, Larry and Charlotte, Val and Bill (Coward), Randy and Maggie; grandchildren, Todd (Laura), Lois, Kerry (James), Mindy (Blaine), Colin, Brett and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Emily and Nolan. Doris was predeceased in 1969 by her daughter June. Doris was born on September 17, 1919, the youngest child of James and Helen Lauderdale. She spent many happy years in Weston with her loving brothers and sisters, Stanley, Jim, Ted, Les, Phyllis and Hilda. As the families grew she enjoyed many special times with her nieces and nephews and cherished a special bond with her niece Sheila. Doris started attending Sparling United Church at the age of three and enjoyed her many activities through the years, fun performances with the young peoples group, annual picnics and teaching Sunday School. On June 1, 1940 she married Art in her church and continued to be involved organizing womens groups and then serving a number of years as President of the U.C.W. Doris was a great support over the years to her husbands involvement in politics, the Trade Union movement and community affairs. She served for many years as President of the Winnipeg N.D.P. womens group and was a special friend of the late Stanley Knowles. Fred Douglas Place was a happy home for the past 11 years with Doris very busy as leader of the Womens craft group. She will be sorrowfully missed by her many friends she made along the way. The family wishes to thank the special staff at St. Boniface Hospital, her Homecare workers, VON and the Paramedic Service. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Sparling United Church, Elgin and Worth Street, Winnipeg on Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, Heart Fund, 409 Tache, Winnipeg R2H 2A6.
