NELLIE ROGOWSKY On Thursday, May 11, Nellie Rogowsky, aged 92 years, died peacefully on her birthday with her family members at her side. She was predeceased by her infant son, Tony and husband Paul. She leaves to mourn her son Joseph (Nettie) daughter Jeanie (Dennis) grandchildren, Joe (Karen), Darlene (Edward), James (Susan) and great-grandchildren, Sean, Steven, Alexander, Katie, Cara, Christy and Nicole. She was born on May 11, 1908 to Harry and Paraska Prociuk of Lonesand, Manitoba. She married her sweetheart Paul Rogowsky on November 17, 1928 and together they owned and operated the family store in Lonesand for many, many years. Nellie was well known for her hospitality, her laugh and love of dance. She was known and loved as everybodys Baba. Nellie learned a long time ago to always smile and this she did throughout her life. When we left her jars full of bugs and blueberries, she smiled. When harvesting the mushrooms through clouds of mosquitoes, she smiled. And whenever we waved good bye after visiting, she waved back and smiled her smile of smiles. During her stay at Riverview Hospital, her smile infected all she met. The staff were always greeted with one of those smiles and an emphatic "Honest to God". We will miss those smiles. Special thank you to the staff of Victoria Oncology department as well as the staff of Palliative Care at Riverview Hospital for their care and concern. Service will be held in Steinbach on Monday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Loewen Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Joe and James Rogowsky of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Christy and Cara Dean and Steven Rogowsky. In days we saw you sinking We watched you fade away Our hearts were nearly broken You fought so hard to stay. God looked around His garden And found an empty space Then He looked down upon the Earth And saw your tired face He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful. For He only takes the best. Thank you Baba for the memories. KHRYSTOS VOSKRES Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, 204-326-1351.
