Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILLIP BELL It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Mr. Phillip Bell on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Sharon Home, Winnipeg, Man. He had recently celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by his family and friends. Phillip Bell was born on February 20, 1900 in the Ukraine. He emigrated to Canada where he met his wife Rose. They settled in Regina, SK and raised four children, Abe, Saul, Lynn and Ben. Phillip Bell worked in the family automotive business. Upon retiring in 1961 he moved to Winnipeg. He cherished every opportunity to be with his family. Every one that knew Phillip Bell loved and adored him. We have been so blessed and honoured to have had him play such a significant part in our lives. Phillip Bell was a happy, content and grateful man. He had a joie de vivre, a joy for life. The word Lchaim, to life represents the exuberant and optimistic manner in which Phillip led his life. He brought such light and joy into the world. He had a heart of gold. He was truly the worlds greatest Zaida. A prince, a true leader, a generous and charitable man. Phillip was most alive when he was giving to others. Mr. Bell was a well known community figure. He spent his time and energy contributing to numerous community organizations. He will be most remembered for being the President of the Golden Age Club for ten years. He has been honoured on several occasions and received countless community service awards for his philanthropic efforts. Phillip Bell was a true gentleman. He always greeted everyone with a smile, a handshake and a kind word. He was a gentle, kind and loving man and left a lasting impression in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched. He was able to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. He had a special gift of making people laugh. Phillip was the perfect role model for how to lead a virtuous and rewarding life. The best way to eulogize Mr. Phillip Bell is to let his good deeds speak for themselves. Phillip was predeceased by his wife Rose in 1967 and his wife Sarah in 1976; Phillip will be deeply missed by his sons and daughters-in-law, Abe and Sylvia of Regina, Saul of Calgary, Ben and Beverly of Palm Springs, CA, Lynn and Mischa of Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Jeff and Charlotte of Vancouver, Debbie of Vancouver, Neil and Michelle of Vancouver, Toby and Phillip of Beverly Hills, Asher of Palm Springs, Lisa and Jackie of Calgary and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madeline, Joshua, Isaac and Sophie Paris, Melody and Christopher. Phillip will also be sadly missed by his long time friend and companion Isabelle Machielle of Winnipeg. We wish to thank Dr. Norman Hechtenthal for his care in making Mr. Bell more comfortable during his last hours and the staff of the Sharon Home for their excellent care. A graveside funeral service was held at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery on Tuesday, May 8. Mr. Bell was eulogized at the funeral by his grandchildren, Debbie Pollock and Asher Bell and his dearest friend Isabelle Machielle. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Bell, Asher Bell, Harvey Pollock, Martin Pollock, Monty Kowall and Gordon Pollock. Phillip Bell will always be near to us and in our hearts forever.
