THERESE REMUS Peacefully, on Thursday, May 11, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer, Therese passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 52 years. She was predeceased by her father (Jos) Stanley Melnic and Della Melnic (nee Menard). Therese was born in St. Eustache, MB on October 27, 1946. She was raised there on her familys farm with her five brothers and one sister. A self-proclaimed tomboy, she enjoyed all athletic activities, especially hockey which she continued to be active in well into her adult life. After attaining her Teachers Certificate, she taught in rural Manitoba schools, until marrying and settling in Emerson, MB in 1972 to raise a family. She was blessed with two daughters whom she treasured dearly. Therese spent the last five years in Altona, MB. There, and in the surrounding communities, she found many friends and much support, especially as her illness began to overtake her. Therese spent the last few weeks of her life in the care of the wonderful staff at Riverviews Palliative Care Unit (wing E3). Therese is survived by her daughters, Karen and Deborah and their father Joseph (Joe) Remus, all of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her brothers, John, Leon, Roger, Maurice, Alan; and sister Doris; and all of their families. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. and led by Sister Olive Halpin. Viewing will take place half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Eustache, MB.
