WALTER WILLIAM LESKIW Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 10, 2000 surrounded by his family, our father, Walter Leskiw went to join our mother in heaven. Dad was born on August 16, 1926 in Winnipeg. He was raised in the North End and attended St. Nicholas School. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 46 years as a locomotive engineer. Dads main activities revolved around his family and church but also enjoyed golfing, swimming, weightlifting and gardening. Dad was a very caring and giving person who put his familys needs before his own. He had a sharp wit and sense of humour that made people laugh. Walter is survived by his sons, Peter (wife Kathy), Mark (wife Leanne) daughter Susan and loving grandchildren Branton and Jaydon; sister Ann Lasiuk and brother Mike. Prayer service will be sung 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 14 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 15 also at the Church with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Lasiuk, Michael Lasiuk, Curtis Kalyta, Phillip Kalyta, Chris Leskiw and Ken Zulyniak. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walters memory may be made to the St. Nicholas Parish Preservation Fund. We would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and kindness. "Dad and Mom are now happy together guiding us from the heavens above. We love you."
