Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSE MANUEL (JOE) REIS Peacefully, with his brother at his side, Joe Reis, age 43, passed away May 12, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre. Joe leaves to mourn his mother Ines Pereira; father Luis Reis and wife Josephine; brother and sister-in-law, Luis and Monica Reis; nieces, Rebecca (4) and Emily (20 months) and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Joe was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal on March 21, 1957 and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1960. After graduating from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1975, Joe attended the University of Manitoba Faculty of Arts for two years and then worked full-time at Sunshine Uniform Supply for the next 20 years. In 1995, Joe fulfilled a life-long dream by opening his own bookstore, White Knight Books, in the Osborne Village. Sadly, after four years in business, Joe closed the doors of his bookstore in 1998 due to illness. Joe was a loyal companion to his mother, a good friend to his brother and sister-in-law and a proud uncle to his nieces. He looked forward to their visits and embraced the opportunity to babysit his "girls". He cherished his nieces and they will miss their beloved "Uncle Joe". Joe will always be an inspiration and role model to his small family and to those who knew him. His family would like to thank the HSC staff on GD6 and GD2 and the many relatives and friends for their care, kindness, love and support during Joes final weeks in hospital.
