PAUL McCAUGHAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, brother, father, grandfather and best friend. Paul left us peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 11, 2000. He is survived by his loving partner, Betty; his children, Matthew (Janet), Michael (Barb), Marcel (Diane), Brian (Sharon) and Nadine; the childrens mother Leona; and his much beloved mother Albertine. He will also be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren, Quinn, Brett, Morgan, Brendin, Chase, Sydney, Bryce and Dylan; his eight brothers and three sisters, Roger (Patricia), Roland (Sandie), Dennis (Joyce), Orval, Real (Kate), Carol (John), Andre (Paulette), Leona (Bob), Raymond (Maureen), Louis (Laurie), Mona (Doug). Paul is also survived by many other relatives and good friends. Paul was predeceased by his infant son Leo and father Ovide. Paul was born March 26, 1939. He grew up in St. Francois Xavier surrounded by a large and fun-loving family. He was an entrepreneur who owned and operated Pauls Auto Body, and he also operated the family farm. Pauls numerous hobbies included stock car racing with his brothers and sons, recreational pilot, golfing, curling, horse racing, travelling to Palm Springs, and fishing with his brothers-in-law ("out-laws") in northern B.C. Paul was a major pillar in the community of St. Francois Xavier; he loved his town. Paul was a councillor and reeve for 15 years in St. Francois Xavier. Paul will be remembered for entertaining his family and friends. Paul also welcomed the opportunity to help guide and teach his family and friends to fulfil their careers and goals. Paul was a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and countless friends and neighbours. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Memorial service for Paul will be held Monday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francois Xavier Roman Catholic Church, St. Francois Xavier, MB.
