FRED GERYLO Tragically, on Thursday, May 11, 2000 at Tollak Place Apartments, Selkirk, Man., Fred Gerylo, aged 80 years. Fred leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Roy (Nellie), Carl (Shannon) and Gord (Linda) grandchildren, Sherri (Gord), Dawn (Kelvin), Krista (Stephen) and Kerri; great-grandchildren, Eryke, Dylan, Zane, Jake, Amber and Myra as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his brothers, William (Lily) of Winnipeg and Harry (Theresa) of East Selkirk; sisters Sophie Klim of East Selkirk and Pearl (John) Packowich of Surrey, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 1989, his parents John and Annie, brothers Walter and Roman, sister Mary and two brothers-in-law Mike Klym and Mike Kupiak. Fred was born in East Selkirk in 1920, later moving to Walkleyburg, Man. He married Sophie Manitowich in 1943 and together they lived in this district for a number of years. Later they moved to Selkirk where he drove a taxi and also delivered bread for Browns Bakery. After a number of years they moved to Transcona where he worked for C.N. He took early retirement and bought land at Bird River where he built a cottage. His wife and family spent many enjoyable summers there. They later bought a home on St. Peters Road in East Selkirk. When his wife died accidentally he sold and moved to Tollack Place Apartments. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, East Selkirk with Father Harry Oliynek officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. His pallbearers will be, Randy Gerylo, Gary Gerylo, Douglas Gerylo, Douglas Manitowich, Joe Banash and Richard Manitowich. The family, friends and neighbours of Fred will remember him for his jokes, helping hand and friendly, caring attitude. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
