GLADYS VIOLET LAWRENCE (nee Flatman) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Gladys Violet Lawrence, on May 14, 2000 after a brief illness at the Central Park Lodge. Gladys was born March 29, 1908 in Winnipeg and graduated from St. Johns Technical High School. She married Bill Lawrence on June 27, 1936. Four children will cherish her memory, William Allen Lawrence, Kenneth Alexander Lawrence (Leslie), Audrey Joan Matchett (Ken) and James Rennie Lawrence (Lynda) along with grandchildren, Susan McKillop, Bill and Patric Lawrence, Kenneth Molloy, Brian Lawrence (Beth), Rob Lawrence, Colleen Matchett-Smith, Kevin Matchett, Lindsay Lawrence; three great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Bayne and sister-in-law Grace Wakefield. Mom was predeceased by our dad William Angus Lawrence; brother Walter Flatman and sister Ethel Quinn. Moms life was devoted to home and family. Some of her happiest times were spent at their summer home in Matlock. Mom was a member of the West Kildonan Chapter #59 Order of the Eastern Star and was affiliated with John Black Memorial United Church. We were all blessed to have such an angel for a mother. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
