JOHN BRUCE SLATER July 8, 1935 - May 12, 2000 It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and papa, John Slater. John was a remarkable and selfless husband to his wife Lorraine of 44 years. His caring and kindness will be missed by his sons, Ed and Brian; daughter Sandra Bisson, son-in-law Phil Bisson; daughter-in-law Kelly and grandchildren, Danielle, Andrew, Brennan Brooke and James. Love and laughter will always drift through their hearts every time they think of him. He will also be sadly missed by his many friends and family members. John was born in Stonewall, MB. He served his country in the Armed Forces in the regiment of Lord Strathcona Horse and then Fort Garry Horse. He trained future soldiers and did peace keeping for the United Nations overseas. He retired from the Armed Forces and joined Winnipeg Transit as a driver for 20 years. John retired from Transit in 1991 and he and his wife Lorraine moved to Paradise Village in 1993. John enjoyed shooting pool, working in his garden, and making his wine. His greatest loves were of course, his family, but John always loved the game of golf which he enjoyed until his last days. Dear Papa, You were the great papa. Now you are in my heart. I hope you are watching me, dad, mom and James. Now that you are an angel I always can remember you. You are the best papa I ever had and I hope you are in grandmas heart. I wish you never died. Youre the best. Love Brooke Papa, Everything you did, made me happy to be a Kid, what should I do, because Ill always miss you, and while were apart, youll always be in my heart. Love Danielleee Dear Papa, Hi, its Andrew. I wish you never went away, because everyone loves you. I am sure God had a good reason for taking you, like he wants to have you a game of golf. Now I have no one to call me "Andew" or tell me stories you had, like when you had to shoot a puck into a little slot and they gave you a left-handed stick, and you gave it right back. Well miss you and we hope you are having the time of your life. Your Pal, Andew A Note to Papa, I remember when you called me Brennski. It would always make me laugh. Papa I will always miss you and I love you. Brennski We all love you John and hope to see you on the 19th hole one day. As per Johns wishes there will be no service held. Johns remains will be cremated and taken care of by his family. Donations may be made in Johns memory to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R2. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
