PEACH On Sunday May 14, 2000, at the Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, Lois Peach passed away as she had lived - peacefully and quietly surrounded by loving family. Her memory is cherished by Austin, her devoted husband of 56 years; son John (Charlotte) daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Mitchell and Brenda (Alfred) Wainman; two grandsons and their wives; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and their families. Lois was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Lund and Emeline Shipley and brother Wilson Lund. Lois was born on June 10, 1915, the second daughter of Thomas and Eileen Lund. She shared many stories of growing up on the farm near Stonewall and in the town. Her parents encouraged her musical talents which Lois shared with others all her life. After attending Winnipeg Normal School, Lois taught in rural schools. After their marriage in 1943, Austin and Lois joined in the operation of the Peach farm in the Good Hope district near Balmoral. The Peach home was the scene of many family gatherings. Nieces and nephews have fond memories of Aunt Lois hospitality and good cookies. Lois strove for excellence in all she did and encouraged her family to do their best in all their activities. Lois was a member of Balmoral United Church and the Balmoral-Victoria U.C.W. Many appreciated her thoughtfulness, thoroughness and dedication to the task at hand. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Balmoral United Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, to the Balmoral United Church Memorial Fund, Balmoral, MB, or to a charity of ones choice.
