Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES SYDNEY GOLDSTONE May 27, 1912 - February 10, 2000 Passed away after a brief illness while on holidays in Los Angeles, C.A. Born in Windthorst, Sask. but raised and schooled in St. Andrews, Man. on Goldstone Road. Graduating from U of M as an Electrical Engineer, he enjoyed a variety of job experiences. Starting with Pickle Lake, Ont. Gold Mines and Asbestos Mines P.Q. then to Dow Chemical in Sarnia, he was responsible for all electrical work in Woodbine Racetrack with Ontario Hydro, before joining the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs in Ottawa. He had an inventive mind and was always able to make improvements wherever he worked. Later he was a Consulting Engineer. His hobbies included flying his own plane for 40 years, and his camcorder, reading, writing articles and studying everything on human genes. He recently published one book and was working on the second. After retiring, Jim spent many years in Florida before moving back to Ottawa. Besides his beloved sister Myrtle Barnett, he is survived by his children, all of Ontario, Donna (Roger) Dowse, Bob (Helen), Judy (George) Langfield, Margaret, Jim (Lee) and Roger (Jennifer) his grandchildren, Cathy (John) Ogrodnik, Rosemary (Andrew) Egan, Robert Goldstone and David, Bob and Jodi Faulkner; his great-grandchildren, Mary and Neil Ogrodnik and Mitchell Egan. A memorial service will be held on his birthdate, Saturday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
