Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD MELVYN ROSS Peacefully at his home on May 18, 2000, our dear husband, dad and grandpa went to be with the Lord. Leonard Melvyn Ross was born on August 18, 1906. Mel will be sadly missed by his loving wife Merle of 66 years; daughter Ellen and her husband Willie of Arborg; son Alvin and his wife Wanda of Hodgson; five grandchildren whom he loved so much, Melody (Norm) Huta, David Weik, Adam, Cory and Perry Ross; sister Edith of Winnipeg; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Mel was predeceased by his parents, John 1935 and Victoria 1954; brothers, John Edward 1925, Stanley 1900, Charles 1988 (Bertha 1996) sisters, Myra 1918, Ida 1976, Lila 1984, Annie 1991 (Ken Packer 1972), Margaret 1993 (Bob OMalley 1977). Mel was born in Clandeboye, MB on August 18, 1906. They moved to Marble Ridge district where he grew up and married Merle (Staples) on September 27, 1933. He was secretary for the Hodgson Community Club when it was first formed in the 1920s and secretary treasurer for Hodgson Baseball Club. Mel served as trustee on Marble Ridge school board and later as secretary treasurer in the 1950s. He served on Arda Board and also on Fisher Hospital Board. He served many years as usher and treasurer for Hodgson Bible Chapel where he began attending in the mid 1950s. Mel loved to play baseball and skate. He loved people and would often be seen at auction sales just to be with people. He had a good sense of humour and he loved to tease his grandchildren. He could often be seen reading his worn out Bible. We sincerely thank Dr. Schall and Dr. Moller at Percy Moore Hospital, friends and neighbours that have been so wonderful to Mel and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hodgson Community Cemetery or a charity of your choice. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Interlake Metis Hall in Hodgson, MB with Rev. Jake Goertzen officiating. Interment will follow at the Hodgson Community Cemetery. Verse Dad learned when he was 4 years old: "Be sure your sin will find you out."
