BERNICE KATCHIN It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loved one, Bernice Katchin (Tanasychuk) aged 48 years, with the family at her side on May 15, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre. Bernice was born in Rossburn, on September 26, 1951. She completed her education in Rossburn and received her teaching certificate at the University of Manitoba. After teaching in Virden for three years, she married Ron Katchin in 1974. They moved to Winnipeg where Bernice continued to teach in the Winnipeg School Division #1 since 1974. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and numerous friends. Bernice is survived by her loving husband Ron; parents, Mike and Lena Tanasychuk of Rossburn; brother Conrad and wife Joanne Tanasychuk of Minneapolis, Minn., sisters, Janet and husband Bob Michalyshyn (Chelsey) of Winnipeg, Elaine and husband Willie Mackle (Kristen, Trisha, Willie Jr.) of Prince Rupert, BC; mother-in-law Margaret Katchin of Russell; sister-in-law Shirley and husband Nelson Baranyk (Michael, Shane) of Brandon; brother-in-law Eugene Katchin and wife Mary Ellen of Beaverdell, BC; sister-in-law Agnes Katchin of Brandon (Brenda, Lisa, Karen, Glen). The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Rossburn. Interment followed in the parish cemetery with the Very Rev. Father Orest Hudyma officiating. Pallbearers were: Ron Bart, Gary Tanasychuk, Lorne Mushumanski, Ron Sidoryk, Melvin Katchin and Shane Baranyk. Crossbearer was Chelsey Michalyshyn. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Raes Funeral Service of Shoal Lake were in care of arrangements.
