VIOLET MAY BUTTERFIELD (nee ELLIS) Surrounded by loving family and friends, Violet passed away peacefully on May 18, 2000 in the Grace General Hospital. She was born in Leeds, England on September 26, 1916. Violet was predeceased by her devoted husband Charles; infant daughter Beverley Anne; loving son David Charles; parents, Joseph and Helen Ellis; brother Albert and sisters, Hazel and Georgia. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Lizotte (Frank Klemen) and Valerie Carlyle; grandchildren, Joseph Lizotte (Nancy MacDonald), Melanie Lizotte (Cam Jackson), John Lizotte (Linda Yip) Ian, Graham, Allison and Andrew Carlyle and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Lizotte and Sophie Jackson; brother Richard Ellis (Frieda) sister-in-law May Mallett (Al) and her dear friend Cy Dent. She will also be missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Vi will be remembered always for her zest for life; for her love of children, flowers, candles, sandy beaches and sunsets. She will be remembered for her cooking and crocheting, her adventurous spirit and love of travel, her incredible memory, her generous nature, her integrity and courage and, above all, her kindness to others. Friends may call for visitation between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 11:00 a.m. also at Thomson Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Nancy Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ian and Graham Carlyle, Frank Klemen, John Lizotte, Bruce McPhail and Rick Onslow. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the amazing and compassionate care given by the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, Man., R3J 3M7, to whom donations may be made if desired.
