JAMES LATTIMER POWERS March 26, 1921 Passed away on March 20, 2000 in Markham, Ontario. Predeceased by wife and very best friend Noreen, July 13, 1998. Survived by son, Dr. Larry Powers and wife Diane of Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia and son, Dr. Doug Powers and wife Dr. Sherry Price of Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Also survived by five grandchildren, Zeesy, Ben, Chantal, Rhys and Jocelyn. After Noreen passed away, Jim was fortunate to have reunited with a dear friend, Marion Fagan of Unionville, Ontario. Jim and Marion were close companions the last year of Jims life. Four years service in the R.C.A.F., discharged March 28, 1945, as Pilot Officer. Jims long career with CP Rail commenced on the London Division, at Guelph Junction in 1946, continued on with the Kenora Division, and final early retirement from Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 26, 1981. As a former resident of Kenora for 35 years, with Noreen, owned and operated a family tourist business, Birchwood Terrace on Tunnel Island for 14 years. Past Master of Lake of the Woods Lodge #445, A.F. and A.M. Kenora, member of Golden Chapter #90, life member Ledger Preceptory, Fort Francis, Ontario, Past President Lake of the Woods Shrine Club 1963 and 1964, former member of the Dormer Lodge #151, Winnipeg, Manitoba, member Elliot Lake Lodge #698 and Khartum Shrine Temple of Winnipeg. Many years of winter periods were enjoyably spent with Noreen at their winter home in Eustis, Florida. Following cremation and in accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Placed to rest beside his wife, in Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society to support Prostate Cancer research.
