He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Nora; his sons, John Jr. and Ivan (Yvonne) his daughters, Elsie (Jim) of Kelowna, B.C., Noreen (Ed) of Banff, Alta., Merle (Arnold), Joanne (Jim), Beryl (Anthony) and Marlene (Glen) 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Agnes; in-laws, Dorothy (Fred) Crate, Margaret (Felix) Kemash, Frank and Edward Hudson and two sisters-in-law to carry on the Mallett legacy, Elizabeth Mallett and Mary Mallett. John was born in Fisher River on July 18, 1920, the second youngest of seven brothers. He was the last of the original Mallett brothers. John was a fisherman all of his life and also carried on the tradition of his older brothers of trapping, hunting, the artistic skills in drawing, carving, making inventions, and the special gift of humour. John sincerely treasured every friend, neighbour, fishing buddy, and all children young and old who brought him joy. There are not enough words to say that he too brought joy to everyone with his endless humour. John valued Gods creatures, great and small whose wonders never cease to amaze him. Johnnys family are thankful to all who made his life interesting and memorable. John was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Mallett, his son Brian in 1951; his sons-in-law Ernest Hartley and Roy Mason; his granddaughter Georgina and two grandchildren in infancy; his nephew Samson Mallett in 1998; his six brothers, Henry, Solomon (Ethel), Samuel (Vera), Levi, Benjamin and most recently his youngest brother Norman Mallett.
