Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKYLE ROBERT JOHNSON It is with tragedy and great sorrow that the family wishes to announce the sudden passing of Kyle Johnson on May 19, 2000. Kyle was born to Jim and Marlys Johnson on February 22, 1981 at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. He graduated from Murdoch McKay Collegiate in 1999 after attending John W. Gunn Jr. High and Radisson Elementary Schools. Kyle loved all sports but it was hockey, his life long passion, which he excelled at. He started skating at two and one-half years of age and began his competitive career at age three and one-half with Transconas Maple Leaf C.C. He played minor hockey with Transconas Minor Hockey Association. At age 15 he began playing the first two seasons for the AAA Sharks organization. His junior career began at age 17 with the St. Boniface Saints where he distinguished himself by being the teams leading scorer and rookie of the year. This past winter he moved to Saskatchewan to play for the Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL. In his first season, Kyles achievements included leading the league in goals, finishing third in scoring, and representing Saskatchewan in the Viking Cup. As well, he was selected for the North Division All-Star Team and voted Second All-Star Centre for the SJHL. Throughout his career, Kyle also received numerous awards of recognition for his various athletic accomplishments. Dedication, sportsmanship and teamwork were important attributes that Kyle brought to each team he played for. Without exception, coaches and teammates alike speak highly of his unselfish contributions both on and off the ice. The most important consideration in Kyles life was always his family and friends. He will be very sadly missed by his parents, Jim and Marlys; his sisters Tara and Shellie (Jim) Anderson; his brother Jay (Cheri, Jason and Keeley) from Fresno, CA; his Nana, Ardene Gilfillan; his Grandmother, Thelma Smolinski; his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his countless friends. Kyle is predeceased by his Papa, Roy Gilfillan, and his Grandfather, Norman Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are, Dan Chapko, Trevor Ducharme, Cory Dzikowski, Don Malko, Adam McConnell, Chris McRay and Garrett Morrison. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kyle Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Transcona-Springfield Education Foundation Inc., 760 Kildare Ave. E., Winnipeg, Man., R2C 3Z4.
