CHRISTOPHER STANLEY ZAHARIA It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Chris Stanley Zaharia on May 22, 2000 at the Health Science Centre, at the age of 36. Chris was predeceased by his father, Stanley Zaharia; his maternal grandparents, Chris and Kate Shade; his paternal grandparents, Nick and Anna Zaharia; his uncles, Andy Shade, Harry Shade, Donald Shade and Christopher Shade; and his aunts, Stella-Marie Shade, Agnes Shade, and Gloria Shade; and dear friend, Michael Grant. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Flora; brother Don and wife Mona; his beloved nephews, Dorian, Zackary and Joshua; and his uncles, Allen Shade, Gerald Shade, Harrison (Cynthia) Shade, Chris (Sandra) Shade from Standoff, AB, Paul Zaharia; Don (Vicky) Zaharia, Regina, SK; Peter (Janice) Zaharia, Weyburn, SK, John Zaharia Saskatoon, SK; his aunts, Agnes (Steven) Valerio, Littleton, Colorado, Lena (Gordon) Jones, Edmonton, AB, Mary Pilatyk, Winnipeg Beach, MB; and many cousins, all who were very dear to Chris; his former teacher and dear friend, Dale Johnson; and his very dear friend, Thad Allary. Chris was a very kind, generous, and humourous person who dearly loved his family, especially his three nephews, Dorian, Zackary and Joshua. He was very protective of them, and extremely generous with his time, love and presents. He would often come and help his brother around the yard. Chris was also a great help to his mother with yard work, shovelling snow and mowing the lawn. He loved family parties, where he brought his special gift of making everyone smile. He loved to go to sports events with his friends. Chris also had two cats, Goldie and Casper, that were well loved and looked after by him. Chris was always a loyal, dedicated and hard worker who brought much joy and humour to his coworkers. He will be sadly missed by his coworkers at Moxies where he worked for the last five years. He enjoyed Moxies so much that he often spent his days off watching sports in the lounge. Previously, he worked at Boston Pizza for many years, where he felt equally loved by his "family" there. Chris loved to travel and visited many parts of Canada and the United States. One of his favourite holidays was the annual trip with his mom, dad, and grandma to Las Vegas. On one of his visits to Vancouver he participated in the National Special Olympics Competition. Another travelling highlight for Chris was his visit to the Montreal Forum. On the morning of his passing he was making plans for his trip out west this summer with his mom. Chris will be missed by so many, as he brought such love and joy to all our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, R3B 2H6. The family would like thank Dr. Fong, Dr. Goodman, nurses and staff on 3D and 3A at Health Science Centre.
