Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN HRYNCHUK (nee Panchenko) 1927-2000 It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother and Baba on Sunday, May 21, 2000 after a short battle with cancer. Born September 17, 1929 in Ontario, Mom moved to Winnipeg in the early 1950s. She will be greatly missed by all her family and longtime companion John Lagundzijai; son Maurice Panchenko (Alana) of British Columbia; daughter Judy and daughter Stephanie Hrynchuk (Sam) grandchildren, Christine Martel, Shane Panchenko, Darlene and Steve Mager, Mike and Lisa Panchenko of British Columbia; great-grandson Peter Panchenko; sister Mena Chevalier of Toronto; brother Al Panchenko (Enis) of California; and many numerous nieces and nephews in Toronto and Winnipeg. Helen was predeceased by her parents Moses and Anna, brother Fred, and great-granddaughter Chantal Sky. Mom drove cab for Yellow/Unicity for 27 years and many people will fondly remember her as "Helen-the-cab-driver". In her later years, Baba was a very active member of The Purple Martin Club, Flying Anglers and Luxton Seniors Pioneer Club. Mom loved her family, gardening, fly-out fishing trips and her animals. Helen will be remembered as a "typical Ukrainian Baba", a great cook with friends and family always finagling to come for a visit and eat her great food. She will be sadly missed by her neighbours, friends and club members. The family would like to express gratitude to Beatrice Smetana, her close friend, for her kindness and care she gave to our mom throughout her illness. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mom, may you finally rest peacefully. We love you. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
