She was predeceased by her husband Peter; sisters Anna, Margaret; and brothers Abraham, John, Jacob and David. She was born in the village of Karpofka, Southern Russia, August 9, 1906. In 1926 she came to Canada with her parents, and family to escape the oppression of Communism. They settled in the Marquette area and farmed as they had in Russia. She was married to Peter in July 1932. They farmed a river lot near Bai St. Paul until 1958, when they moved to Winnipeg. Our mother will lovingly be remembered for her hospitality, crocheted tea towels, love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends who were always free to drop in. Left to cherish her memory are her son, John (Irene), their children, Carolyn (Mark) Booth; Christopher (Carolyn) Braun; Cheryl (Dan) Bradley; her daughter Laurie (Don) Skog, their children Soren and Andrea as well as many great-grandchildren. Special mention goes to Henry and Maggie Driedger, Peter and Elizabeth Becker, and aunt Lena Braun, who provided much support and love in emotional and practical ways. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the friendly, loving care provided by the staff of 3 east wing Concordia Hospital. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bethania Nursing Home Chapel, 1045 Concordia Ave. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, at the Schoenfelder Mennonite Church on Highway #26 west of Pidgeon Lake, MB.
