Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEARL DEMPSEY Peacefully, with family at her side, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Pearl Dempsey passed away on May 24, 2000 at the age of 88 at Jocelyn House. Pearl, the youngest of nine children was born to Harry and Polly Kaluzniak on their homestead in Walklyburg, MB on October 8, 1911. In 1936 she married Andrew Dempsey and together they raised two children. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are son Dennis (Barbara), daughter Barbara Reed of Winnipeg and brother Mike Kaluzniak of Edmonton. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, David, Denise and Gaylene and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Evan. Pearl was predeceased by husband Andrew; son-in-law David; her parents and seven of her brothers and sisters. A favourite aunt, she will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who repaid her care and concern with their love and compassion. Pearl was a longtime member of St. Andrews Cathedral in Victoria and St. Ignatius Church in Winnipeg, and also served on the Catholic Womens League and the St. Pauls High School Parents Association. After living in Victoria and enjoying magnificent ocean views, many friends and year round walks for 40 years, Pearl returned to Winnipeg to reside at Jocelyn House in her final months where she appreciated the serenity of the Seine River and its surrounding wildlife. The family gratefully thanks the dedicated and caring staff and volunteers at Jocelyn House, especially Tammy with whom she formed a special bond which made Pearls final days cheerier. In keeping with Pearls wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street, on Saturday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at a later date at Brookside Cemetery, Walklyburg, MB.
