DONALD RANDOLPH BELFRY With deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Don, on May 24, 2000, at Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 66 years. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Doris; daughters, Pamela (Colin Johnston), Brenda (David Bull) of Winnipeg, Shauna (Wayne Halvorson) of Abbotsford, B.C., son Daryl (Carolyn) of Ogden, Utah; and his grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew and Kailyn Halvorson. He was predeceased by his father Arthur Wellington in 1949; and mother Elizabeth Ann (Reid) in 1943. Don was born August 25, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta. His younger years were spent in Haney and Costin, B.C., Timsdale, Jasper and Grand Prairie, Alberta. Don participated in many sports during his youth. He enjoyed swimming, playing hockey, football and golf. He graduated from high school in 1949. Between the years from 1949 to 1954, he worked for Canadian National Telegraph from Jasper, Alberta, to Blue River and Kamloops, B.C.; and with Northwest Communications as a Lineman from Dawson Creek to the Alaska border. Don was engaged in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Whitehorse, Yukon on September 20, 1954. He took the recruit training in Ottawa and spent his entire career in various postings throughout Manitoba. He worked in many different areas of police work, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He loved his job very much and was very proud of his profession and the Force. He retired April 8, 1988. Don appreciated his home life. He was an avid gardener and loved caring for the flowers, lawn and shrubs. He was a generous and caring husband and father. We will greatly miss him. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for the gentle loving care they gave to Don and support to the family. It was greatly appreciated. At Dons request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Ness Avenue Baptist Church, 2700 Ness Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, Winnipeg, R2Y 0S8. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
