GORDON GERALD SMITH Gordon Smith, beloved husband of Shirley Smith (nee Dales) passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on May 24, 2000. He was born in Winnipeg in 1927 to Sophie and Michael Smith. His working life was spent at Swift Canadian and later at Gainers, a total of 46 years. He married Shirley Dales in 1950 and they raised seven children together. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Shirley and his sons and daughters and their children. Doug (Doris), Anthony (Dianne), Rosemary Lukinski (Lloyd), Constance (Don Schellenberg), Andrew (Nancy), Randy (Marina) and Bruce. There are 12 grandchildren, Brendan, Jeremy and Ashleigh Smith, Matthew and Amanda Smith, Michael, Steven and Kyle Lukinski, Graham, Lauren and Eric Schellenberg, Garret Smith. Gordon has one surviving brother Donald (Joanne) and their son Chris. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ernest and a nephew Jon Smith. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a real family man. He camped, skied and curled and was active in Melrose Community Club for several years. After retirement he enjoyed the family cottage at Belair, Man. and golfing with his sons. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street.
