MARY VON McINNES (nee CRAIG) Mary Von McInnes, born July 9, 1914 in Grassy Lake, AB, died peacefully in the early morning of May 16, 2000. Beautiful, brave-hearted Mary is missed by husband Robert; her children, Craig, Lynda and Sasha; her grandchildren, Mary Christine, Craig and Pamela Moffat; Shawn Hayman; Suzanne, Jennifer and David McInnes; by her great-grandchildren, Jack and Tessa, Cassandra and Zack; and by her brothers and sister; her nieces and nephews and their families. As a young woman Mary moved from Vulcan to Winnipeg where she met Bob, married and moved across Canada helping him realize his dream of flying. Together they established their family and built Bobs career from bush pilot to Captain with Canadian Pacific Airlines. They moved to Peru with their young family in the mid 50s. Mary loved exploring - especially South America - with her children. Her adventurous spirit opened the world to us. In the 70s, Mary amazed her doctors and her family by walking again after she was the victim of a serious accident. Mary had an unparalleled sense of style. She was a patient and devoted grandma. She was a wonderful cook (Oh, the Yorkshire pudding and gravy...the butter tarts!), her creativity was not restrained by equipment or exotic ingredients. She modelled elegance, creativity, wit, determination and adventure. As Bob says, Mary was tops. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Purdy Pavillion Vancouver Hospital at UBC, June 4 at 11:30 a.m., Vancouver, BC.
