PAOLINA GIGLIOTTI Peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, our mother Paolina Gigliotti passed away in her 96th year. Mom was blessed with four children, Tom (Barbara), Sylvia (Victor), Gig and Mary; her grandchildren, Janet, Dena, Lisa, Dean (Estherlee), Anthony, Tom (Sherri), Paula (Zad) great-grandchildren, Mathew, Natalie, Emilia, Adrianna, Jade and Tristan. She was predeceased by her husband Ferdinando Gigliotti on May 12, 1961 and her sister Rosaria Alessio of Philadelphia, as well as many relatives in the U.S.A. and Italy. Mom was born on October 3, 1903 in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy. She immigrated to Winnipeg in December 1926 where she was married that month to Ferdinando Gigliotti. She loved her house on Carlaw Avenue and lived there for 71 years. Her greatest joy was baking bread, cooking Italian food, and the love and pride that she had for her family. All her neighbours and friends benefitted from this. Prayers will be said on Sunday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on Unit 5 in the Victoria General Hospital for all their professionalism and kindness in looking after our mother.
