Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALVERN CHARLES WOODEN On May 27, 2000, Alvern Charles Wooden passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 87 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Myra; daughter Brenda (Dean) Metrow of Calgary; grandchildren David and Laura Metrow; his favorite dog and best friend Pepsi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Wilber and sister Georgiana. Alvern was born in Winnipeg in 1912. He joined the Armed Forces in 1939 and served overseas with the Lord Strathcona Horse RC until the wars end. Following the war he became an employee of Federated Co-Op where he retired at the age of 65. Alvern enjoyed the family cottage at Grand Beach and enjoyed bowling in a seniors bowling league for many years. Cremation has taken place and there will be a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with the Rev. Wendy Rankin officiating. Interment will be in Garry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, MB., R3E 0V9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
