EMILY LINDAL (nee MAGNUSSON) Peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family, our dear Mother and Amma, Emily Lindal passed away on May 27, 2000. Mom will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her children: daughter, Christine and husband Leonard Finnson and and their children, Carcy, Cyndi, Cory, Jonathan and Alysha and great-grandson, Blaine; daughter Marlene and Randy Unger; son Donald and wife Jennifer and their children, Mark, Erik, Chantel and Stephanie; son James and wife Donna and their children, Jake, Joe and Ian. She is survived by her sister Helga Jonasson and brother Asgeir (Alice) Magnusson; brother-in-law Oli (Anna) Lindal; sister-in-law Emily A. Lindal and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph in 1991; her parents, Armann and Asgerdur Magnusson; her brothers, Joe, Kris, Jonas, Maggi and infant brother Asgeir and sisters, Caroline Mathiason, Sella Bergman and Halla Magnusson. Emily was born at home in Vidir on December 5, 1925 to Armann and Asgerdur Magnusson. She attended school at Vidir and took grade 9 and 10 by correspondence. In 1941-42 she took her grade 11 at Riverton Collegiate. In the fall of 1942, she entered the Success Business College and graduated in stenography in June 1943. After that she worked at the Continental Casualty Insurance Company in Winnipeg for one year and then took the job as bookkeeper at the Arborg Co-op. On February 14, 1954, she married Joseph Lindal, her valentine sweetheart. They made the Lindal Family homestead their home, where they raised their four children. In September on 1975, Emily returned to work as a full time bookkeeper at Johnson and Sons in Arborg until her retirement in 1988 when she took time to be a full time wife, Mom and Amma - the careers she loved the most! In Moms own words, her family was her "whole world." Everything she did, she did for us. She cherished her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She took pride in watching all their accomplishments; she was always there for us. No matter what life presented her with, she approached all challenges with the same quiet determination that was a source of inspiration to all of us. Her inner strength and "grace under pressure" gave testimony to the truly generous and selfless person she was. Her quiet sense of humour shone through even in her most trying times. Special thanks to Drs. Emile and Mariette Muller for their kind thoughts and care during Moms illness. To Shannon Pyziak, Georgina Ball, Bob Schreyer and all the home care workers who graced her home, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your comforting words and acts of kindness. Funeral service to celebrate Moms life will be held in the Ardal Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg on Wednesday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Otto Christensen will officiate, with interment to follow in the Sylvan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends who so desire may make a donation to a local charity. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of the arrangements. GODA NOTT MOM AND AMMA
