JAMES S. ROSE June 11, 1921- May 27, 2000 Peacefully at sunrise at the Grace Hospital. Jim was predeceased by his parents: Katrin, January 15, 1996 and Alfred, January 7, 1990. Also by Lorna, January 6, 1988. Jim is survived by his children, Jim (Alana), Gerald (Heather), Dianne; grandchildren: Jason (Kelly), Bryan, Mike and Rick; great-grandson Zorn; sister Kay, brother Alf (Gwenn), nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins and many friends. Jim was a long time resident of St. James and a devoted family man, who cared deeply for his close and extended family. He greatly enjoyed going for drives in his van, sometimes stopping unannounced to visit old friends or family. He especially enjoyed the youngest members of the family - how they grow and cheer you. In recent years Jim decided walking was great, stopping to chat at Deer Lodge Hospital and Doxis Lodge Grill. Jim was an honorary life member of the Air Canada Retirement Club, having been an Air Canada employee for 36 plus years, a past president and life member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4, a member of St. James/Assiniboia Senior Centre, and a long time member of the NDP. The family thanks the staff of 3N at Grace Hospital for their excellent care, support and compassion shown to Jim and the family. There will be a memorial service on Thursday June 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel 1858 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8.
