Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN BJORG TURNER (nee THORSTEINSSON October 10, 1927 - May 29, 2000 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and cousin, Helen Bjorg Turner, on May 29, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Charles (Chuck) sons, Alan, Bruce (Diane), Jim (Susan) and Tom (Terri) grandchildren, Julie, Michelle, Lisa, Katie, Robyn and Jeff; brothers, John B. Thorsteinsson and Orville (Bud) Thorsteinsson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all miss her dearly. Helen was born in Winnipeg, the youngest child of Jon and Agnes (Tottie) Thorsteinsson. She graduated with a B.A. from United College in 1948. Helen and Chuck were married in 1956 and made Winnipeg their home. After her boys entered school, Helen resumed her studies at U. of M. and obtained her B.Ed. During her teaching career she taught grades 4, 6, and Special Education at Robert H. Smith, Lord Nelson, Tyndall Park and Margaret Scott. Helen was a 50 year member of Selkirk Chapter No. 35, Order of Eastern Star. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Eveline and McLean, Selkirk, on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Christine Bridgett officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at Little Britain Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ian Thorlakson and the I.C.U. staff at the Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helens memory may be made to Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2K9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
