EVELYN MARGARET BURROWS (nee MARTIN) On June 1, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, Evelyn Margaret Burrows passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Irene and violet; her brother Marcus; and in 1975 by her loving husband Cecil. She is survived by her son Brian and his wife Margaret; her two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Evelyn was born May 10, 1909 at Shoal Lake, MB. After attending high school, she moved to Winnipeg where she attended college and worked at Eatons. She married Cecil James Burrows in 1939 and lived the majority of her life in St. Vital as a mother and homemaker. Evelyn was known to many as an ardent Bridge player and will be missed by her "Bridge Ladies". She was also an enthusiastic golfer and was particularly active at the St. Boniface Golf Club. Evelyn loved travel and made voyages as far away as China. She will be missed immensely by all those who knew and loved her, for her friendship, card skills, and unbeatable fudge cake. The family offers grateful thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Victoria General Hospital and the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. In accordance with Evelyns wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place in the family plot in St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of choice. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamonds that glint on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain, When you awaken in the mornings hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night, Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there. I did not die. -Author Unknown THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
