SYLVIA IRENE BELL On Friday June 2, 2000 at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. Sylvia Irene Bell aged 91 years beloved wife of the late Harold Bell. Sylvia is survived by two sons, Bill and Jack (Iris) one daughter Noreen; one son-in-law Jim; daughter-in-law Margaret-Lynn and grandchildren, Allison, Miles, Merry-Ann, Jason, Justin, Andrea, Carolyn. She is also survived by two sisters, Annetta Thompson and Marjorie Meldrum and by numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Harold, her parents Jessie and Will Lester and one brother Elroy. Sylvia attended Garnett and Sperling schools and received her R.N. and nurses training in Carman and Winnipeg. She married Harold Bell in 1935 and they took up residence in Sperling. Sylvia was an active member of the Sperling United Church, Sperling Curling Club and in many community affairs. Sylvia and Harold resided in Sperling until 1963 where they raised their three children. They moved to Winnipeg and Sylvia resumed her nursing career until retiring from Princess Elizabeth Hospital in 1974. Harold passed away in 1987. Sylvia spent the last four years of her life in the Bethania Personal Care Home. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Bethania for their excellent care of mom over this time. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held in the Sperling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity on ones choice.
